Exam technique intensive

A half-day workshop on command terms, method marks, and time boxing.

A half-day intensive for IB Mathematics Analysis & Approaches SL focused on how answers are read, not on teaching a new topic from scratch.

Suggested agenda (3 hours)

  1. 20 min — Command terms. Write one-sentence examples of show that, hence, sketch, and explain for this course.
  2. 40 min — Method lines. Take two multi-part items and mark only communication: labels, units, and a boxed final answer.
  3. 15 min — Break.
  4. 50 min — Timed slice. Sit 25 minutes, swap scripts, and mark for method only.
  5. 35 min — Error log. Each student leaves with three personal rules (for example “name the function before differentiating”).

Admins: embed a recording or slide deck when you run this live. Keep the agenda editable so a teacher can swap times.

Weak-topic rescue workshop

A two-hour clinic that rebuilds one shaky topic and then checks it under light time.

Use this workshop when a class (or a single student) has one topic that keeps collapsing under time on IB Mathematics Analysis & Approaches SL.

Suggested agenda (2 hours)

  1. 15 min — Diagnose. Three mixed starters; students tag each as “blank”, “method only”, or “finished”.
  2. 40 min — Rebuild. Teach from the matching Key Concepts refresher. No new optional extensions.
  3. 10 min — Break.
  4. 35 min — Guided items. Two questions done on the board with students writing first.
  5. 20 min — Exit check. One unseen item, then a homework pointer into the Question Bank.

Admins: name the target topic in the title when you duplicate this resource (for example “Rescue: calculus”). Add a video link if the workshop is recorded.
